Chinatrust Brothers (+135) - Rakuten Monkeys (-165)
The Chinatrust Brothers (24-17) and the Rakuten Monkeys (22-16) will meet on Friday, June 19th for a 1st Stage regular-season matchup in the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL). This will be game one of a three-game series between Chinatrust and Rakuten.
The Rakuten Monkeys were defeated by the Uni Lions by the final score of 10-5 on Thursday. Rakuten is now a 0.5 game behind the Chinatrust Brothers for first place in the CPBL standings. Uni has had a history of spoiling many games for Rakuten this season, and Thursday was no exception. Uni took a 9-0 lead by the end of four innings, putting Rakuten well too far out of reach. Rakuten did not give up, as they did make it a 9-5 game after 7 innings, but of course, it was not enough. Uni added an extra run for good measure in the eighth inning to get to double-digits in the run column, and Uni earned its 18th victory of the year.
Chinatrust was given the day off on Thursday, therefore its pitching staff will have an advantage in this series. Especially since Chinatrust did not have to use too many arms in its last win over Fubon, 15-1. Chinatrust is now back in sole possession of first place in the CPBL, but that will be on the line in this three-game series. A three-game sweep by either team would be a crushing blow to the other.
The betting line opens with the Rakuten Monkeys as the favorites with a -165 price on the Win-Line. Chinatrust opens as the underdogs with a +135 price on the Win-Line respectively. The total in this game is set at 11.5 runs with both the over and under set at -110 odds each.
This is going to be one of the most entertaining series' to watch this entire season, just as the last series these two teams played a few days ago. With so much on the line, I have to think this game is going to be played really tight, with not too many mistakes made from the pitching staff of either team. It is a very small number for the total at 11.5, but I think that is for good reason. I will take the under 11.5 runs.
