The Fubon Guardians (16-22) and the Uni Lions (18-25) will meet on Friday, June 19th for a 1st Stage regular-season matchup in the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL). This will be game one of a three-game series between Uni and Fubon.
The Uni Lions defeated the Rakuten Monkeys on Thursday, 10-5. Uni's bats were firing early and often, as the team was able to earn a 9-0 lead by the end of four innings. Uni has had Rakuten's number all season long, as although Uni is in the last place and Rakuten is a 0.5 out of first place, Uni still brings on the spoils on many different occasions. Uni is now only a 0.5 game behind Fubon for third place in the CPBL, something that not many people thought was possible looking back a few weeks ago. Uni has had a history of going on streaks and slumps, and they are definitely on the former as of now, winning three of their last five.
Fubon is on a downward spiral as of late, as the Guardians just lost to Chinatrust by the final score of 15-1 on Wednesday. Fubon has not had much luck against Chinatrust this season, especially as of late, and that showed when they were swept in two games. Fubon would not want to drop this game against Uni, as a loss would put them in sole possession of last place in the CPBL for the first time in a very long time.
The betting line for this game opens with the Fubon Guardians as the favorites with a -180 price on the Win-Line. Uni opens as the underdogs with a +150 price on the Win-Line. The total for this game is set at 11.5 runs with both the over and the under set at -110 odds for each.
I am going to take the really appealing value bet in this game, and take the underdog team who has played much better than the favorite as of late. Uni may not have the team on paper, but in many different situations, they are able to pull off solid upset victories. I think the Uni Lions give it all they've got to try and take third place in the CPBL, and they win it on Friday. Roar Lions Roar!!!
