The Chinatrust Brothers (25-17) and the Rakuten Monkeys (22-17) will meet on Saturday, June 20th for a 1st Stage regular-season matchup in the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL). This will be game two of this three-game series between Chinatrust and Rakuten.
The Chinatrust Brothers defeated the Rakuten Monkeys in game one of this series by the final score of 7-4 on Friday. The win for Chinatrust gives the Brothers a 1.5 game lead over first place in the CPBL, its largest lead of the CPBL this entire season. Chinatrust trailed early in this game as the Rakuten Monkeys were able to strike first in the bottom of the 1st with two runs. Chinatrust found two runs of its own in the top of the fifth inning to tie the game at 2-2. In the bottom of the 7th, with a ton on the line for Rakuten, the Monkeys were able to score the go-ahead run to take the 3-2 lead through 7 innings.
Everything changed in the ninth inning, as the Chinatrust Brothers exploded on all cylinders. The Brothers not only took the lead but scored five runs in the top of the ninth to take a 7-3 lead and crush the hopes of Rakuten fans everywhere. Rakuten added a consolation prize-run in the bottom half of the ninth but it was not enough. Chinatrust scored its seven runs on nine hits and one error. Rakuten scored three runs on eight hits and zero errors.
The betting line in this game opens with the Chinatrust Brothers as the heavy favorites at -200 odds on the Win-Line. Rakuten opens as the big-time dog with a +165 price respectively. The total in this game is set at 11.5 runs, just as it was yesterday. The over and under are both set at -110 odds each.
I have to admit, I did not expect the bookies to give Chinatrust this much respect for this game. Sure, Chinatrust should be the favorites, but at -200 odds? Expect Chinatrust's starter to go deep in this game, and for that reason, I will yet again take the under in this matchup. The under won yesterday and should have won a lot easier if it was not for that crazy ninth inning. Expect more of the same on Saturday.
