The Fubon Guardians (17-22) and the Uni Lions (18-26) will meet on Saturday, June 20th for a 1st Stage regular-season matchup in the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL). This will be game two of this three-game series between Fubon and Uni.
The Fubon Guardians defeated the Uni Lions in game one of this series by the final score of 6-5. Fubon earned its 17th victory of the season on Friday, a much-needed win for the Guardians. Fubon now has some breathing room between them and Uni in the standings, as Fubon is 1.5 games ahead of Uni now.
Both teams were able to score in the 1st inning of play, making it 1-1 after one. Fubon went above and beyond and score a run in the second and two in the third to take a 4-1 lead over Uni after three innings of play. This three-run lead would seem significant to any other team but Fubon, as the Guardians are the king of blowing solid leads. Uni made it a two-run game in the bottom of the fourth, but Fubon was able to get that run back the very next inning. With the score being 5-2 through five innings, Uni scared the Fubon fans, even more, when the Lions scored two more runs in the bottom of the sixth to make it a one-run game. In the top of the ninth, Fubon added what proved to be a much-needed insurance run, as Uni was only able to score one of its own in the bottom of the ninth. This gave Fubon the official 6-5 victory after various scares provided by the Uni Lions of a potential heartbreaking comeback.
The betting line for this game has the Uni Lions as the favorites with a -160 price on the Win-Line. The Fubon Guardians open as the underdogs with a +130 price respectively. The total in this game is set at 14.5 runs, a heavy total even for the CPBL. Both the over and the under is set at -110 odds.
I think Uni being the favorites in this game tells me everything I need to know. How can a team go from losing one day to being the favorites by a substantial enough margin the next day, without having some sort of advantage regarding player availability? I will take the Uni Lions on the run at -1.5 (-115).
