The Rakuten Monkeys (25-18) and the Uni Lions (20-27) will meet on Friday, June 26th for a 1st Stage regular-season matchup in the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL). This will be game one of a three-game series between Rakuten and Uni.
The Rakuten Monkeys were off on Thursday, as the only two teams to play were Chinatrust and Uni. Rakuten's last game was on Wednesday, and that was a 10-3 victory over the Fubon Guardians. Rakuten is currently tied with the Chinatrust Brothers for first place in the CPBL standings, so every game forward is very important for Rakuten. Rakuten has had some issues with Uni this season, as although Rakuten is usually the big favorites heading into the series', Uni finds a way to spoil a few too many games for Rakuten's liking. Watch out for Uni again this series, as they will try to give Rakuten fits often.
The Uni Lions did not have the luxury of an off-day on Thursday, as they had to take on the Chinatrust Brothers. The Brothers defeated the Uni Lions by the final score of 13-6. Uni had a 1-0 lead in this game, but that was about it, as the rest of this matchup was ALL Chinatrust. Chinatrust's five-run first inning put Uni out of reach early, as the Lions dropped its 27th game of the season. Uni is currently tied with the Fubon Guardians for third/last place in the CPBL standings, so a loss could put themselves in sole possession of fourth.
The betting line in this game has the Rakuten Monkeys as the major factories with a -200 price on the Win-Line. The Uni Lions are the big-time underdogs with a +165 price on the Win-Line respectively. The total in this game is 11.5 with both the over and the under at -110 odds.
In this game, I expect the Rakuten Monkeys to take care of business. This is not a strong feeling, especially when you look back on all of the times Uni has spoiled games like these. For that reason, I will stay away from a side and take the over in this game. Both of these teams score runs early and often in games, and I think 11.5 is too conservative for this match.
