Hanwha Eagles vs. KIA Tigers – 7/1/20 KBO Baseball Pick, Odds, and Prediction

2020-07-01 05:30:00 EDT

The KIA Tigers and Hanwha Eagles meet Tuesday morning in South Korea KBO baseball action at the Gwangju Kia Champions Field.

The KIA Tigers could use a bounce back victory after losing four of their last five games and just losing two of three games to the Kiwoom Heroes. The KIA Tigers pitching staff has allowed four or less runs in nine of their last 12 games. In their last effort, Kim Sun-bin and Na Joo-hwan combined for two hits while Aaron Brooks allowed one run and six hits in six innings of work. The KIA Tigers have won nine of their last 15 games overall.

The Hanwha Eagles need a win after losing five of their last seven games and losing two of three games to the KT Wiz Suwon. The Hanwha Eagles pitching staff has allowed seven or more runs in seven of their last 12 games. In their last effort, Lee Yong-kyu and Song Kwang-min combined for three hits and four RBI while Chad Bell allowed five runs and six hits in five innings of work. The Hanwha Eagles have lost 18 of their last 23 games overall.

The KIA Tigers are 7-1-1 in their last nine meetings against the Hanwha Eagles, but that one loss was in the last meeting back in mid-May. Five of the last 10 meetings between the Tigers and Eagles have produced double-digit run totals.

I’m not running to the window to bet either of these teams in their current form, but if forced to pick, I’d lean toward the KIA Tigers, the team that’s had overall more success this season and has won seven of the last nine meetings in this series. The Hanwha Eagles just can’t get out of their own way and their pitching staff has been rocked time and time again. The KIA Tigers have had their scent struggles as well, but at least their pitching shows up most of the time. It’s only a matter of time before the offense follows and this slump is a thing of the past.

I’ll side with the KIA Tigers in game one.
