The Rakuten Monkeys (26-20) and the Chinatrust Brothers (29-19) will meet on Tuesday, June 30th for a 1st Stage regular-season match in the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL). This will be game one of a two-game series between Rakuten and Chinatrust.
The Rakuten Monkeys are currently on a two-game losing streak and are 2.0 games behind the Chinatrust Brothers for first place in the CPBL. Rakuten were big favorites in both losses to the Uni Lions, especially the last game where they were -230 favorites on the Win-Line. Rakuten was absolutely embarrassed in game two of the series, as it was a 21-5 loss. Rakuten then lost to Uni by the score of 10-2 on June 28th, as it was back-to-back blowout defeats for these Rakuten Monkeys.
The Chinatrust Brothers swept the Fubon Guardians in a three-game series this past weekend, as the Brothers are now in the driver's seat in the CPBL. All three games were lower-scoring, as Chinatrust's pitching staff was ready to go. Chinatrust won 3-1, 6-3, and 4-3 in the three games. Each game was tight at some point or another, but Chinatrust was able to pull out clutch victories over a Fubon team that is spirally downward fast.
The betting line in this game opens with the Rakuten Monkeys as the favorites with a -170 price on the Win-Line. The Chinatrust Brothers are the underdogs with a +140 price on the Win-Line respectively. The total in this game is set at 11.5 runs, with both the over and the under at -110 odds each. The Run-Line has the Rakuten Monkeys -1.5 (-105) and the Chinatrust Brothers +1.5 (-125).
Both teams were given the day off on Monday to restore some energy in the pitching staff, which I think will be crucial in this two-game series. I cannot pass up the Chinatrust Brothers in this spot at +140, as even though Rakuten may be the better team on paper, Chinatrust has been on a roll. Pair that with the fact that Rakuten was just blown to pieces twice to Uni. Give me Chinatrust at +140.
