2020-07-02 05:30:00 EDT

The Samsung Lions and SK Wyverns meet Thursday morning in South Korea KBO baseball action at the Daegu Samsung Lions Park.

The Samsung Lions look to keep the ball rolling after winning seven of their last nine games. The Samsung Lions have allowed five or less runs in 11 of their last 15 games. In their latest effort, Koo Ja-wook and Lee Won-seok combined for three hits and four RBI while David Buchanan allowed one run and four hits in nine innings of work. The Samsung Lions have won 14 of their last 21 games overall. Won Tae-in gets the ball tonight for the Samsung Lions.

The SK Wyverns need a win after losing 12 of their last 14 games. The SK Wyverns pitching staff has allowed four or less runs in five of their last six games. In their last effort, Choi Jeong and Chae Tae-in combined for two hits and one RBI while Moon Seung-won allowed four runs and five hits in five innings of work. The SK Wyverns have lost 16 of their last 19 games overall. Lee Geon-wook gets the ball tonight for the SK Wyverns.

The SK Wyverns have won five of the last nine meetings against the Samsung Lions and are 2-3 against them this year. Nine of the last 11 meetings between the Wyverns and Lions have produced single-digit run totals.

The Samsung Lions are playing some of their best ball fo the season with wins in seven of their last nine tries, and their pitching staff has been on point this entire stretch. You shouldn’t expect anything different with Tae-in on the mound, a pitcher who has a 2.96 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 33 strikeouts in 54.2 innings. The SK Wyverns continue to be fade material with the losses piling up at an unreal clip and an offense that can’t produce consistently. Geon-wook has been solid in his own right with a 2.78 ERA and 22 strikeouts in 32.1 innings, but it’s not the pitching lately that’s costing the SK Wyverns games.

The Samsung Lions should continue their hot streak and close this series out with a victory.
