The Lotte Giants and SK Wyverns meet Friday morning in South Korea KBO baseball action at the Sajik Baseball Stadium.
The Lotte Giants look for a win after losing four of their last six games and losing two of three to the NC Dinos. The Lotte Giants offense has produced four or less runs in seven of their last 12 games. In the latest effort, Jung Hoon and Son Ah-seop combined for four hits and five RBI while Dan Straily allowed five runs and seven hits in 4.2 innings of work. The Lotte Giants have lost 11 of their last 16 games overall. Adrian Sampson gets the ball tonight for the Lotte Giants.
The SK Wyverns need a win to snap a five-game losing streak, and they were just swept by the Samsung Lions. The SK Wyverns pitching staff has allowed four or less runs in five of their last seven games. In their last effort, Choi Jeong and Choi Joon-woo combined for two hits and two RBI while Lee Geon-wook allowed three runs and eight hits in 4.1 innings of work. The SK Wyverns have lost 17 of their last 20 games overall. Ricardo Pinto gets the ball tonight for the SK Wyverns.
The SK Wyverns have won 13 of the last 16 meetings against the Lotte Giants, but those three losses have come in the last three meetings. Seven of the last meetings between the Wyverns and Giants have produced single-digit run totals.
I don't want to back either of these teams in their current form and I certainly don't want to back either of these starting pitchers. Sampson has a 6.16 ERA and is 2-4 this season, while Pinto has a 4.02 ERA and is 3-4 this season. The over is probably worth a look in this spot. Still, when it comes down to it, the Lotte Giants usually don't stay in these funks for long and they beat up on the SK Wyverns in the last three meetings. The SK Wyverns are a complete mess right now with five straight losses and losses in 17 of their last 20 games overall.
Give me the Lotte Giants and the RL for added value, but there's better options on Friday's KBO card.
