Samsung Lions vs. Kiwoom Heroes – 7/9/20 KBO Baseball Pick, Odds, and Prediction

2020-07-09 05:30:00 EDT

The Kiwoom Heroes and Samsung Lions meet Thursday morning in South Korea KBO baseball action at the Gocheok Sky Dome.

The Kiwoom Heroes look for another victory after winning 14 of their last 19 games. The Kiwoom Heroes have scored no less than five runs in 12 of their last 16 games. In their last effort, Kim Hye-sung and Kim Ha-seong combined for two hits and four RBI while Moon Sung-hyun allowed zero runs and one hit in three innings of work. The Kiwoom Heroes have won 16 of their last 23 games overall. Eric Jokisch gets the ball tonight for the Kiwoom Heroes.

The Samsung Lions look to keep the ball rolling after winning six of their last eight games. The Samsung Lions have allowed five or less runs in 13 of their last 21 games. In their latest effort, Lee Won-seok and Kang Min-ho combined for two hits and five RBI while Won Tae-in allowed three runs and six hits in 5.2 innings of work. The Samsung Lions have won 18 of their last 27 games overall. Baek Jung-hyun gets the ball tonight for the Samsung Lions.

The Samsung Lions have won five of their last seven meetings against the Kiwoom Heroes, but the last 14 meetings have been split down the middle. Ten of the last 15 meetings between the Lions and Heroes have produced single-digit run totals.

The Kiwoom Heroes are not only playing as well as any team in the league right now, but they have possibly the best starting pitcher on the mound for this game. Jokisch has a 1.30 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 49 strikeouts in 69.1 innings this season. The Kiwoom Heroes have won eight of the last 11 games Jokisch has pitched. On the other side, Jung-hyun has a 5.23 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 36 strikeouts in 43 innings this season. And while the Samsung Lions have won five straight games Jung-hyun has pitched, this is a complete mismatch when looking at the numbers. It’s the main reason why the odds are heavily favored toward the Kiwoom Heroes.

Give me the Kiwoom Heroes, and I’ll take the RL for added value.
