The Lotte Giants and Doosan Bears meet Friday morning in South Korea KBO baseball action at the Sajik Baseball Stadium.
The Lotte Giants look for a win after losing seven of their last 12 games, but they just took two of three from the Hanwha Eagles. The Lotte Giants offense has produced four or less runs in nine of their last 18 games. In the latest effort, Han Dong-hee and An Chi-hong combined for two hits and five RBI while Adrian Sampson allowed three runs and six hits in 5.2 innings of work. The Lotte Giants have lost 14 of their last 22 games overall. Seo Jun-won gets the ball tonight for the Lotte Giants.
The Doosan Bears need a win after losing seven of their last 13 games, but they just took two of three from the LG Twins. The Doosan Bears offense has produced five or more runs in six of their last eight games. In their last effort, Park Kun-woo and Jose Fernández combined for four hits and four RBI while Raul Alcántara allowed zero runs and two hits in seven innings of work. The Doosan Bears have won 16 of their last 29 games overall. Chris Flexen gets the ball tonight for the Doosan Bears.
The Doosan Bears have won seven of the last nine meetings against the Lotte Giants, but one of those losses came in the last meeting. Seven of the last 10 meetings between the Bears and Giants have produced double-digit run totals.
I’m not thrilled about backing either of these clubs in their current form and you can make a case the Lotte Giants have the starting pitching edge with Jun-won and his 3.95 ERA. Flexen has a 4.18 ERA and 1.36 WHIP and has received the loss in three of his last four starts. However, the Doosan Bears have played the better baseball over the last two weeks and have an offense that we know can carry them out of a funk at any moment. The Doosan Bears have also won seven of the last nine meetings against the Lotte Giants.
Give me the Doosan Bears and the RL for added value, but there’s better options on Friday’s KBO card.
