The Doosan Bears and LG Twins meet Thursday morning in South Korea KBO baseball action at the Jamsil Baseball Stadium.
The Doosan Bears need a win after losing seven of their last 12 games. The Doosan Bears offense has produced five or more runs in five of their last seven games. In their last effort, Choi Joo-hwan and Kim Jae-ho combined for six hits and four RBI while Park Jong-gi allowed six runs and seven hits in four innings of work. The Doosan Bears have won 15 of their last 28 games overall. Raul Alcántara gets the ball tonight for the Doosan Bears.
The LG Twins need a victory here after losing five of their last seven games. The LG Twins pitching staff has allowed five or more runs in 12 of their last 18 games. In their last effort, Kim Hyun-soo and Oh Ji-hwan combined for four hits and six RBI while Casey Kelly allowed three runs and nine hits in six innings of work. The LG Twins have lost 16 of their last 29 games overall. Tyler Wilson gets the ball tonight for the LG Twins.
The Doosan Bears have won six of their last seven meetings against the LG Twins and seven of the last 11 meetings overall. Six of the last eight meetings between the Bears and Twins have produced double-digit run totals.
I'm not trying to back either of these teams in their current form, but it's without question the Doosan Bears who are playing the better baseball overall and they've won six of the last seven meetings in this series. The LG Twins pitching staff continues to get tagged and is throwing a pitcher out there in Wilson who has a 4.47 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 19 walks in 58.1 innings. Alcántara has actually been rather solid this season, posting a 3.45 ERA and 1.18 WHIP with 61 strikeouts in 70.1 innings. The LG Twins have also won back-to-back games just once since June 19, so one win last night doesn't move the needle much for me.
I'm not thrilled about the price, but the Doosan Bears should get the job done.
