The Hanwha Eagles and SK Wyverns meet Saturday morning in South Korea KBO baseball action at the Hanwha Life Eagles Park.
The Hanwha Eagles need a feel good victory after losing eight of their last 11 games. The Hanwha Eagles pitching staff has allowed seven or more runs in nine of their last 21 games. In their last effort, Jung Eun-won and Choi Jae-hoon combined for one hit and four RBI while Kim Min-woo allowed zero runs and four hits in 5.1 innings of work. The Hanwha Eagles have lost 24 of their last 32 games overall. Kim Jin-wook gets the ball tonight for the Hanwha Eagles.
The SK Wyverns need a win here after losing nine of their last 12 games. The SK Wyverns pitching staff has allowed four or less runs in seven of their last 14 games. In their last effort, Oh Jun-hyeok and Chae Tae-in combined for five hits and four RBI while Kim Joo-han allowed three runs and five hits in 5.2 innings of work. The SK Wyverns have lost 21 of their last 27 games overall. Park Jong-hoon gets the ball tonight for the SK Wyverns.
The SK Wyverns have won eight of the last 11 meetings against the Hanwha Eagles and three of the last four meetings. Each of the last five meetings between the Wyverns and Eagles have produced double-digit run totals.
I'm not thrilled about backing either of these teams that have had trouble stringing wins together, and I certainly don't want to back a pitcher in Jong-hoon who has a 5.37 ERA and 1.43 WHIP with 24 walks in 58.2 innings this season. Instead, I'd lean toward the over in this contest. Not only is Jong-hoon getting rocked every time he takes the mound, but each of the last five meetings between the Wyverns and Eagles have produced double-digit run totals. Last nights game produced 11 runs and the last five meetings are producing an average of 11.8 runs. Better to ride the trend than getting behind either of these losing teams.
Give me the over 9.5 runs for game two of this series.
