The Hanwha Eagles and SK Wyverns meet Sunday morning in South Korea KBO baseball action at the Hanwha Life Eagles Park.
The Hanwha Eagles need a feel good victory after losing nine of their last 12 games. The Hanwha Eagles pitching staff has allowed five or more runs in each of their last six games. In their last effort, Jung Jin-ho and Choi Jin-haeng combined for three hits and two RBI while Kim Jin-wook allowed two runs and five hits in 4.1 innings of work. The Hanwha Eagles have lost 25 of their last 33 games overall. Jang Shi-hwan gets the ball tonight for the Hanwha Eagles.
The SK Wyverns need a win here after losing nine of their last 13 games. The SK Wyverns pitching staff has allowed four or less runs in eight of their last 15 games. In their last effort, Chae Tae-in and Choi Joon-woo combined for three hits and two RBI while Park Jong-hoon allowed two runs and four hits in 5.1 innings of work. The SK Wyverns have lost 21 of their last 28 games overall. Moon Seung-won gets the ball tonight for the SK Wyverns.
The SK Wyverns have won nine of the last 12 meetings against the Hanwha Eagles and four of the last five meetings. Five of the last six meetings between the Wyverns and Eagles have produced double-digit run totals.
Both of these teams have had issues stringing wins together this season, so while the SK Wyverns have owned the h2h, I'm not thrilled about backing them in possible back-to-back victories. Shi-hwan has also been the better pitcher this season with a solid 3.18 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 62 strikeouts in 65 innings of work. Seung-won has been far less reliable, posting a 5.07 ERA and 1.83 WHIP with 56 strikeouts in 49.2 innings. The SK Wyverns have also won back to back games just once since June 7, so they're not a team you want to get behind because they had one good outing.
I'm going to take a shot with the Hanwha Eagles as they close out this series.
