Samsung Lions vs. KIA Tigers – 7/15/20 KBO Baseball Pick, Odds, and Prediction

2020-07-15 05:30:00 EDT

The KIA Tigers and Samsung Lions meet Wednesday morning in South Korea KBO baseball action at the Daegu Samsung Lions Park.

The KIA Tigers look for a win after winning four of their last five games. The KIA Tigers pitching staff has allowed four or less runs in 15 of their last 24 games. In their last effort, Kim Min-sik and Na Joo-hwan combined for four hits while Lee Min-woo allowed four runs and seven hits in five innings of work. The KIA Tigers have won 17 of their last 27 games overall. Drew Gagnon gets the ball tonight for the KIA Tigers.

The Samsung Lions need a victory here after losing four of their last five games. The Samsung Lions have allowed five or less runs in 15 of their last 25 games. In their latest effort, Lee Sung-gyu and Kang Min-ho combined for five hits and three RBI while David Buchanan allowed zero runs and seven hits in seven innings of work. The Samsung Lions have won 19 of their last 31 games overall. Baek Jung-hyun gets the ball tonight for the Samsung Lions.

The KIA Tigers and Samsung Lions have split their last eight meetings, but it’s the Tigers who have won three of the last five meetings. Three of the last six meetings between the Lions and Tigers have produced double-digit run totals.

The KIA Tigers are playing the better baseball entering this contest and have the starting pitching edge as well. Jung-hyun has a 5.44 ERA and 1.44 WHIP with 38 strikeouts in 48 innings this season while Gagnon has a 3.94 ERA and 1.30 WHIP with 61 strikeouts in 61.2 innings. Gagnon has allowed three or less earned runs in five of his last six start while Jung-hyun has allowed 10 earned runs and 12 hits in his last 10 innings. With both teams relying so much on their pitching staff as of late, I have to think the Tigers have the edge with the better starter on the hill.

I’ll back the KIA Tigers and the reasonable price in game two of this series.
