The KIA Tigers and Doosan Bears meet Sunday morning in South Korea KBO baseball action at the Gwangju Kia Champions Field.
The KIA Tigers look for a win after winning six of their last nine games. The KIA Tigers pitching staff has allowed four or less runs in 17 of their last 28 games. In their last effort, Choi Hyung-woo and Na Joo-hwan combined for two hits while Kim Ki-hoon allowed three runs and four hits in 4.1 innings of work. The KIA Tigers have won 19 of their last 31 games overall. Lee Min-woo gets the ball tonight for the KIA Tigers.
The Doosan Bears look for a victory after winning five of their last eight games. The Doosan Bears offense has produced five or more runs in 10 of their last 15 games. In their last effort, Park Kun-woo and Kim Jae-hwan combined for four hits and four RBI while Choi Won-joon allowed zero runs and five hits in five innings of work. The Doosan Bears have won 20 of their last 36 games overall. Lee Young-ha gets the ball tonight for the Doosan Bears.
The Doosan Bears have won five of the last six meetings against the KIA Tigers and 10 of the last 12 meetings overall. Eleven of the last 14 meetings between the Bears and Tigers have produced single-digit run totals.
This is another rough pitching matchup in the KBO, as Min-woo has a 5.11 ERA and 1.38 WHIP in 61.2 innings while Young-ha has a 5.86 ERA and 1.83 WHIP in 66 innings. Young-ha has allowed eight earned runs and 15 hits in his last 11.1 innings. The Doosan Bears have had the h2h advantage in recent meetings, but they’re also a team that can look completely different one day and the next. The KIA Tigers pitching staff as a whole has also been more consistent, so I expect a bounce back performance from them after getting tagged a bit in Saturday’s loss.
If forced to pick this game, I’m leaning in the direction of the KIA Tigers and the plus money, but there’s better options on Sunday’s KBO card.
