The KIA Tigers and Doosan Bears meet Saturday morning in South Korea KBO baseball action at the Gwangju Kia Champions Field.
The KIA Tigers look for a win after winning six of their last eight games. The KIA Tigers pitching staff has allowed four or less runs in 17 of their last 27 games. In their last effort, Baek Yong-hwan and Preston Tucker combined for two hits and three RBI while Aaron Brooks allowed two runs and seven hits in eight innings of work. The KIA Tigers have won 19 of their last 30 games overall. Kim Ki-hoon gets the ball tonight for the KIA Tigers.
The Doosan Bears look for a victory after winning four of their last seven games. The Doosan Bears offense has produced five or more runs in nine of their last 14 games. In their last effort, Park Se-hyuk and Hur Kyoung-min combined for three hits and two RBI while Yu Hui-kwan allowed four runs and eight hits in six innings of work. The Doosan Bears have won 19 of their last 35 games overall. Choi Won-joon gets the ball tonight for the Doosan Bears.
The Doosan Bears have won four of the last five meetings against the KIA Tigers and nine of the last 11 meetings overall. Ten of the last 13 meetings between the Bears and Tigers have produced single-digit run totals.
The Doosan Bears have the history edge in this series, but I'm not running to the window to bet this pitching matchup while laying juice. Won-joon has a 4.76 ERA and 1.32 WHIP in 34 innings. Ki-hoon hasn't been much better this season with his 4.35 ERA and 1.26 WHIP in 10.1 innings, but he hasn't allowed a hit or a run in his last 3.2 innings of work. The bottom line here is that the KIA Tigers pitching staff all together has been solid as of late, and they've played the more consistent baseball overall these last few weeks. The Doosan Bears are far and away more hit or miss and are no strangers to throwing up stinkers out of nowhere.
Give m the KIA Tigers and the even money.
