The Los Angeles Angels and the Los Angeles Dodgers meet in an MLB preseason matchup on Tuesday night
The Los Angeles Angels come into this game looking to build some steam after a 1-0 win over the San Diego Padres on Monday night. Mike Trout and Jose Rojas each had a double while David Fletcher went 2 for 4 at the dish in the win. Jason Castro, Matt Thaiss and Brian Goodwin each had a hit as well as the Halos had seven hits as a team in the win with Tommy La Stella plating the game’s only run on a ground out. Griffin Canning got the win after tossing six shutout innings while allowing just three hits and striking out five. Ty Buttrey picked up the save by closing out the 9th, allowing just one hit. Felix Pena is expected to get the nod here and will be making his preseason debut here.
The Los Angeles Dodgers will look to keep the ball rolling after a second straight pounding of the Arizona Diamondbacks, defeated Arizona on Monday by a final score of 12-1. Chris Taylor and Joc Pederson led the way with four RBIs apiece, with Pederson having a two-run home run and a double while Taylor had a three run home run and a double of his own. Mookie Betts also added a three run shot while A.J. Pollock went 2 for 4 with an RBI to finish off the Dodgers’ scoring as a team in the win. Corey Seager went 3 for 3 with a double and Justin Turner added a two-bagger of his own while Matt Beaty, Cody Bellinger, Will Smith and Keibert Ruiz each had a base hit as well in the victory. Julio Urias got the win after allowing one run on four hits while striking out three over five innings of work. Josiah Gray is expected to get the start here and has a 13.50 ERA up to this point in the preseason.
I’m not sure what we’re going to see from Gray, even if he only goes a couple of innings here, and the Angels have a solid lineup. However, while Pena’s been a reliable starter for the Angels, getting the Dodgers are your first matchup of the preseason is a daunting task in itself when you look at how the Dodgers have been swinging the bat in their first couple of games against Arizona. I’ll side with the Dodgers to pick up another win here.
