The Seattle Mariners and Los Angeles Angels meet Thursday in MLB action at Angel Stadium.
The Seattle Mariners need another win after losing four of their first six games. The Mariners have scored 17 runs in their last three games and five or more runs in three of their last four games. The Mariners have won nine of their last 11 games when scoring more than two runs. Kyle Lewis leads the Mariners with 11 hits and five RBI while Kyle Seager and J.P. Crawford have combined for 15 hits and eight RBI. Marco Gonzales gets the ball, and he is 0-1 with a 6.23 ERA and two strikeouts this season. Gonzales is 5-1 with a 4.17 ERA and 57 strikeouts in his career against the Angels.
The Los Angeles Angels need a win after losing three of their last four games. The Angels have scored 17 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in four of their last five games. The Angels have lost three of their last five games when scoring at least three runs. David Fletcher leads the Angels with 10 hits and three RBI while Mike Trout and Brian Goodwin have combined for 12 hits and eight RBI. Dylan Bundy gets the ball, and he is 1-0 with a 1.35 ERA and seven strikeouts this season. Bundy is 1-1 with a 2.70 ERA and 24 strikeouts in his career against the Mariners.
The Mariners are 34-73 in their last 107 games as an underdog, 23-51 in their last 74 road games and 17-47 in their last 64 vs. American League West. The Angels are 5-1 in their last 6 games as a home favorite, 4-10 in their last 14 home games and 2-6 in their last 8 Thursday games. The over is 4-0-1 in Mariners last 5 road games. The over is 5-2 in Angels last 7 overall. The Mariners are 1-6 in the last 7 meetings.
It's hard to be impressed with either of these teams through the first week, but I think it's safe to say the Angels are the better team in this spot. Bundy also looked sharp in his season debut against an explosive A's squad. Gonzales wasn't great in his debut against the Astros, and he had a 4.00 ERA and .271 allowed batting average on the road last season. There's better betting options on Thursday's MLB card, but I'll take the Angels and the RL if forced to pick.
