The Oakland Athletics and Seattle Mariners meet Friday in MLB action at T-Mobile Park.
The Oakland Athletics need a win here to get a game above a .500 record. The Athletics have scored seven runs in their last three games and three or less runs in four of their last five games. The Athletics have lost seven of their last 11 games when scoring three or less runs. Ramon Laureano leads the Athletics with seven hits and three RBI while Matt Chapman and Robbie Grossman have combined for 12 hits and six RBI. Sean Manaea gets the ball, and he is 0-1 with a 7.71 ERA and three strikeouts this season. Manaea is 6-4 with a 3.69 ERA and 51 strikeouts in his career against the Mariners.
The Seattle Mariners look for a third straight win to get back to a .500 record. The Mariners have scored 20 runs in their last three games and five or more runs in four of their last five games. The Mariners have won three of their four games this season when scoring more than two runs. Kyle Lewis leads the Mariners with 13 hits and seven RBI while J.P. Crawford and Tim Lopes have combined for 17 hits and six RBI. Taijuan Walker gets the ball, and he is 0-1 with a 13.50 ERA and one strikeout this season. Walker is 1-2 with a 4.54 ERA and 28 strikeouts in his career against the Athletics.
The Athletics are 10-3 in their last 13 Friday games, 9-3 in their last 12 road games and 11-4 in their last 15 games following an off day. The Mariners are 35-73 in their last 108 games as an underdog, 1-5 in their last 6 Friday games and 4-9 in their last 13 overall. The under is 7-0 in Athletics last 7 road games. The under is 6-0 in Mariners last 6 home games. The Athletics are 5-2 in the last 7 meetings.
The Oakland Athletics were able to enjoy an off day yesterday and you should expect a better showing from Manaea considering he's a much better pitcher than what he showed in the season opener. The Seattle Mariners have won a couple of games, but the jury is still out on this club. I still don't think the Mariners are that good of a team and Walker isn't a pitcher I'm running to the window to back. This is a spot where I'd take the A's behind their ace and lay the RL for added value.
