The New York Mets and the Atlanta Braves meet in an NL East division matchup from Truist Park on Saturday night.

The New York Mets will try to rebound from an 11-10 loss to Atlanta on Friday night. J.D. Davis led the Mets by going 2 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs while Yoenis Cespedes and Robinson Cano each had two RBIs with Cano logging a home run while Cespedes had a double. Amed Rosario had a solo home run while Pete Alonso and Michael Conforto each chipped in an RBI to finish off New York’s scoring as a team in defeat. Brandon Nimmo and Andres Gimenez each had two hits while Wilson Ramos added a base knock as well to cap off the Mets’ offense as a team in defeat. Rick Porcello allowed three runs on five hits while striking out five over four innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Seth Lugo took the loss to fall to 1-1 on the year as a result of his 2nd blown save. Michael Wacha will start Saturday’s game and is 1-0 with a 1.80 ERA and 4 strikeouts this season. In his career, Wacha is 0-3 with a 3.65 ERA and 20 strikeouts against Atlanta.

The Atlanta Braves will try to keep the momentum going after their rally to beat the Mets on Friday. Travis d’Arnaud led the way by going 3 for 4 with a double and five RBIs while Dansby Swanson and Matt Adams each had two RBIs with Swanson going 2 for 4 with a double. Austin Riley added an RBI while Ronald Acuna Jr. added a double as well. Freddie Freeman, Marcell Ozuna and Adeiny Hechavarria each had a base hit as well in the victory for Atlanta. Sean Newcomb allowed six runs on six hits while striking out four over 4.1 innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Grant Dayton got the win in relief while Chris Martin closed things out for the save. Touki Toussaint will start this one and is 0-0 with a 20.25 ERA and 6 strikeouts this season. This will be Toussaint’s second career start against the Mets.

New York is 6-2 in their last 8 road games and 1-4 in their last 5 games as an underdog while the under is 6-0 in their last 6 Saturday games. Atlanta is 39-18 in their last 57 home games and 3-7 in their last 10 division games while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 game two matchups. The over is 5-2-1 in the last 8 meetings between these two teams in Atlanta.

I’m going to go to the total here as I can’t get myself on the Mets because of how they keep messing up and Atlanta because of their starter. I mean Toussaint allowing six runs in 2.2 innings is concerning and Wacha, while he had success in his Mets debut, has not had success in his career against Atlanta. Instead, I’m going to side with the over. Both teams can swing a bat as we saw on Friday and while I’m not sure we hit 21 runs, we should have enough to get us over the total here.
