Hanwha Eagles vs. SK Wyverns – 8/19/20 KBO Baseball Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The SK Wyverns and Hanwha Eagles meet Wednesday morning in South Korea KBO baseball action at the Incheon SK Happy Dream Stadium.  

The SK Wyverns need a win here after losing 26 of their last 40 games. The SK Wyverns pitching staff has allowed four or less runs in 18 of their last 42 games. In their last effort, Han Dong-min and Ko Jong-wook combined for four hits and four RBI while Park Jong-hoon allowed three runs and five hits in five innings of work. The SK Wyverns have lost 37 of their last 55 games overall. Lee Geon-wook gets the ball tonight for the SK Wyverns.    

The Hanwha Eagles need a win after losing 15 of their last 22 games. The Hanwha Eagles pitching staff has allowed five or more runs in 20 of their last 30 games. In their last effort, Lee Yong-kyu and Noh Soo-kwang combined for five hits and two RBI while Kim Min-woo allowed six runs and five hits in 3.1 innings of work. The Hanwha Eagles have lost 43 of their last 59 games overall. Park Joo-hong gets the ball tonight for the Hanwha Eagles.      

The SK Wyverns are 8-3-1 against the Hanwha Eagles in the last 12 meetings. Nine of the last 11 meetings between the Wyverns and Eagles have produced double-digit run totals.

Lee Geon-wook has a 4.57 ERA and 1.41 WHIP through 69 innings this season, and he’s allowed three or more earned runs in five of his last seven starts. Park Joo-hong has a 7.04 ERA and 1.70 WHIP this season through 7.2 innings this season, and while that’s a small sample size, he has a 8.07 ERA and 1.92 WHIP through 64.2 innings in his KBO career. The Hanwha Eagles have been automatic fades for a while now and there’s really no reason to get behind them with this pitching matchup, as Joo-hong has shown us nothing on the hill. Geon-wook has put together some of his better performances of the season lately. 

I have no choice but to side with the SK Wyverns and the RL for added value.
