The Boston Red Sox and the Baltimore Orioles meet in an AL East division matchup from Camden Yards on Thursday.
The Boston Red Sox will look to build off of a 6-3 win over the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday. Rafael Devers led the way by going 3 for 4 with a home run, a double and three RBIs while Jackie Bradley Jr. had a double of his own with two RBIs. Alex Verdugo, Kevin Pillar and Mitch Moreland each had a double while Christian Vazquez added a base knock as well to finish off Boston’s offense as a team in the win. Kyle Hart allowed two earned runs on two hits while striking out five over 3.2 innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Austin Brice got the win to improve to 1-0 on the year while Brandon Workman got the save, his 4th of the year. Nathan Eovaldi will start here and is 1-2 with a 5.93 ERA and 27 strikeouts this season. In his career, Eovaldi is 4-1 with a 5.10 ERA and 40 strikeouts against Baltimore.
The Baltimore Orioles will try to rebound from a 5-2 defeat at the hands of Toronto last time out. Pat Valaika went 2 for 4 with an RBI while Hanser Alberto and Anthony Santander each had a double with Alberto going 2 for 4 at the dish in the loss. Dwight Smith Jr. and Cedric Mullins each went 2 for 4 as well while Rio Ruiz added a base hit to cap off Baltimore’s offense as a team in the defeat. Tommy Milone took the loss, falling to 1-3 on the year after allowing three runs on seven hits while striking out seven over six innings of work. Asher Wojciechowski will start here and is 1-2 with a 4.34 ERA and 17 strikeouts this season. In his career, Wojciechowski is 2-1 with a 0.92 ERA and 21 strikeouts against Boston.
Trends will be updated once they’ve been released.
Boston picked up a win last time out, and that could bring some good vibes in against an Orioles team that for whatever reason, couldn’t figure out Toronto. However, one game isn’t going to move my needle that the Red Sox are a bad baseball team, and while the results haven’t always been there for the O’s, Wojciechowski has stifled Boston in his brief time as a major leaguer. I’ll take a shot here with Baltimore and the plus money.
