The Colorado Rockies visit the Los Angeles Dodgers in an NL West division matchup in MLB action from Dodger Stadium on Friday night.
The Colorado Rockies will try to rebound after a 10-8 loss to Houston on Thursday. Ryan McMahon had a pair of home runs and four RBIs while Charlie Blackmon had a pair of RBIs and Matt Kemp and Nolan Arenado each had an RBI as well with Arenado adding a double. Sam Hilliard went 4 for 5 with a triple and Trevor Story had a double while Daniel Murphy went 2 for 5 at the dish. Raimel Tapia added a base hit as well to finish off the offense for Colorado in the losing effort despite outhitting the Astros 14-10 in the game. German Marquez took the loss, allowing all ten runs on ten hits while striking out five over five innings of work. Jon Gray will start here and is 1-2 with a 5.74 ERA and 16 strikeouts this season. In his career, Gray is 5-5 with a 4.36 ERA and 77 strikeouts against the Dodgers.
The Los Angeles Dodgers will look to keep rolling after a 6-1 win over the Seattle Mariners on Thursday. Cody Bellinger went 2 for 3 with a solo home run and two RBIs while Matt Beaty had a double and an RBI and A.J. Pollock added an RBI as well. Enrique Hernandez went 2 for 4 and Austin Barnes added a base knock as well to cap off the offense for the Dodgers in the victory. Clayton Kershaw got the win to improve to 3-1 on the year after giving up the one run on four hits while striking out 11 over seven innings of work. Walker Buehler will start here and is 0-0 with a 5.21 ERA and 17 strikeouts this season. In his career, Buehler is 4-2 with a 4.28 ERA and 76 strikeouts against Colorado.

Gray found his fastball against Texas and used it to compliment his secondary pitches, but I’m still concerned about his ERA that’s well over six at Dodger Stadium in his career. On the other hand, we know Buehler has the stuff to go but he just hasn’t looked like himself this season and the ERA over five will tell you that if nothing else. Even thought Colorado’s struggling, guys like Story, Arenado and Blackmon still have pop in those bats and we’ve seen what the Dodgers can do when they’re on. Give me the over here.
