Samsung Lions vs. SK Wyverns – 8/21/20 KBO Baseball Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The SK Wyverns and Samsung Lions meet Friday morning in South Korea KBO baseball action at the Incheon SK Happy Dream Stadium.  

The SK Wyverns need a win here after losing 27 of their last 42 games. The SK Wyverns pitching staff has allowed four or less runs in 18 of their last 44 games. In their last effort, Choi Jeong and Kim Sung-hyun combined for three hits and three RBI while Baek Seung-geon allowed five runs and seven hits in five innings of work. The SK Wyverns have lost 38 of their last 57 games overall. Moon Seung-won gets the ball tonight for the SK Wyverns.      

The Samsung Lions need a victory here after losing 15 of their last 22 games. The Samsung Lions have allowed five or more runs in 11 of their last 22 games. In their latest effort, Koo Ja-wook and Kim Dong-yeop combined for three hits and three RBI while David Buchanan allowed three runs and 10 hits in six innings of work. The Samsung Lions have lost 20 of their last 31 games overall. Yoon Sung-hwan gets the ball tonight for the Samsung Lions.  

The Samsung Lions have won seven of the last 10 meetings against the SK Wyverns. Ten of the last 13 meetings between the Lions and Wyverns have produced single-digit run totals.

Moon Seung-won has a 3.78 ERA and 1.20 WHIP this season through 100 innings, and he’s allowed three or less earned runs in 10 of his last 11 starts. Yoon Sung-hwan has a 4.24 ERA and 1.47 WHIP this season through 17 innings, and he’s coming off five scoreless innings against the Hanwha Eagles. I’m not thrilled to get behind either of these struggling teams and subpar pitchers, but the Samsung Lions have had the upper hand against the SK Wyverns this season, and you can argue they have the hotter pitcher on the hill with how Sung-hwan looked in his last try. The SK Wyverns have a hard time building a case as a favorite against anybody these days.
