Lotte Giants vs. Samsung Lions – 8/22/20 KBO Baseball Pick, Odds, and Prediction

2020-08-22 05:00:00 EDT

The Samsung Lions and Lotte Giants meet Saturday morning in South Korea KBO baseball action at the Daegu Samsung Lions Park.

The Samsung Lions need a victory here after losing 16 of their last 23 games. The Samsung Lions have allowed five or more runs in 12 of their last 23 games. In their latest effort, Park Hae-min and Kim Heon-gon combined for six hits and two RBI while Yoon Sung-hwan allowed four runs and two hits in 1.2 innings of work. The Samsung Lions have lost 21 of their last 32 games overall. Won Tae-in gets the ball tonight for the Samsung Lions.

The Lotte Giants look for a win after winning 17 of their last 30 games. The Lotte Giants offense has produced five or more runs in 19 of their last 31 games. In the latest effort, Han Dong-hee and Min Byung-hun combined for two hits while Noh Kyung-eun allowed zero runs and four hits in six innings of work. The Lotte Giants have lost 26 of their last 50 games overall. Seo Jun-won gets the ball tonight for the Lotte Giants.

The Samsung Lions have won six of the last eight meetings against the Lotte Giants, and those two losses came in the last four meetings. Five of the last 10 meetings between the Lions and Giants have produced double-digit runs.

Won Tae-in has a 3.83 ERA and 1.45 WHIP this season through 84.2 innings, and he’s allowed three or more earned runs in four of his last five starts. Seo Jun-won has a 4.92 ERA and 1.51 WHIP this season through 75 innings, and he’s allowed three or more earned runs in six of his last seven starts. The Samsung Lions have the pitching edge in this matchup and have beaten up on the Lotte Giants this season, but they’re also a team that’s lost 16 of their last 23 games. Seo Jun-won has issues getting out of an inning clean these days.

This is a spot where I lean toward the over, especially when we’ve seen a lot of high scoring games between the Giants and Lions this season.
