2020-08-25 19:10:00 EDT

The Minnesota Twins and the Cleveland Indians meet Tuesday in MLB action from Progressive Field.

This will be the second installment of a three-game series between these teams this week. In the opener on Monday, the Twins came back from an early deficit and eventually eked out a tight 3-2 victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks and MLB predictions at Sports Chat Place.

The Twins were out-hit 12-8 by Cleveland on Monday, but Minnesota still managed to pull out a win with opportunistic scoring. Max Kepler was the only Twins player with more than one hit, going 2-for-4 on the evening. Starting pitcher Kenta Maeda earned the win with 5.0 innings, five hits, one earned run, one walk and seven strikeouts.

For the Tuesday start, Minnesota will send out Rich Hill. This season in two starts, Hill is 1-1 with a 4.70 ERA and three strikeouts in 7.2 innings of work. Across his MLB career, Hill is 66-43 with a 3.83 ERA and 1007 Ks in 945.0 innings total.

Over on the Indians’ side, starting pitcher Aaron Civale had some good length and pitched a competent game Monday, but two home runs and three earned runs on seven hits across 6.0 innings was too much for the offense to overcome. Carlos Santana finished 3-for-5 with an RBI in that one.

For Tuesday’s starting pitcher role, the Indians are going with Shane Bieber. In his six starts this season, Bieber is 5-0 with a 1.11 ERA and 65 strikeouts in 40.2 innings. During his MLB career, Bieber is 31-13 with a 3.43 ERA and 442 Ks in 369.2 frames of work.

The Twins are 18-6 in their last 24 Tuesday games and 37-17 in their last 65 games versus a right-handed starter. Minnesota is 70-34 in their last 104 games versus the American League Central and the under is 18-7-1 in their last 26 versus the American League Central.

Meanwhile, the Indians are 7-1 in their last eight Tuesday games and 5-1 in their last six during game two of a series. Cleveland is 49-22 in their last 71 versus the American League Central and the under is 8-1 in their last nine during game two of a series.

Pick: Leaning Indians here. Hill missed around three weeks of action due to shoulder fatigue and didn’t do all that well in his return. He gave up four runs on four hits with three walks in 2.2 innings versus the Brewers on Wednesday. As for Bieber, he keeps chugging along and posted another scoreless start in his last outing against the Pirates. In that one, Bieber posted 11 strikeouts over six innings. He should be in control here, and that’s good news for Cleveland.
