Atlanta Braves vs. New York Yankees – 8/26/20 MLB Game 2 Pick, Odds, and Prediction

2020-08-26 19:10:00 EDT

The New York Yankees and Atlanta Braves meet Wednesday in game two of an MLB doubleheader at Truist Park.

The New York Yankees need a win here to snap a three-game losing streak. The Yankees have scored 10 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in seven of their last nine games. The Yankees have won seven of their last eight games when scoring four or more runs. DJ LeMahieu leads the Yankees with 30 hits and eight RBI while Luke Voit and Gio Urshela have combined for 43 hits and 38 RBI. Masahiro Tanaka gets the ball, and he is 0-1 with a 4.60 ERA and 13 strikeouts this season. Tanaka is 1-0 with a 4.09 ERA and 10 strikeouts in his career against the Braves.

The Atlanta Braves look for a win after winning five of their last seven games. The Braves have scored 21 runs in their last three games and  four or more runs in six straight games. The Braves have split their last eight games when scoring four or more runs. Dansby Swanson leads the Braves with 36 hits and 16 RBI while Freddie Freeman and Marcell Ozuna have combined for 57 hits and 36 RBI. Max Fried gets the ball, and he is 4-0 with a 1.32 ERA and 33 strikeouts this season. This will be Fried’s first career game against the Yankees.

The Yankees are 10-2 in their last 12 second games of a double-header, 16-6 in their last 22 Wednesday games and 5-2 in their last 7 interleague games. The Braves are 4-0 in their last 4 second games of a double-header, 9-1 in their last 10 interleague home games and 5-2 in their last 7 overall. The over is 4-1 in Braves last 5 overall. The Yankees are 8-0 in the last 8 meetings in Atlanta and 13-3 in the last 16 meetings.

Masahiro Tanaka has allowed eight earned runs and 18 hits in 15.2 innings this season while Max Fried has allowed two runs and 17 hits in his last 22.1 innings. Through 34 innings, Fried has been one of the better pitchers in the majors and is in line for a possible CY Young if he stays on this path. Tanaka is better than what he’s shown up to this point, but getting the Braves at this price with their ace on the mound for the cheap price is a spot I can’t pass up.
