New York Mets vs. New York Yankees Game 2 – 8/28/20 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

2020-08-28 19:05:00 EDT

The New York Mets and New York Yankees meet Friday in game two of an MLB doubleheader at Yankee Stadium.

The New York Mets need a win after splitting their last 10 games. The Mets have scored five runs in their last three games and four or more runs in seven of their last 11 games. The Mets have won eight of their last 10 games when scoring four or more runs. Michael Conforto leads the Mets with 33 hits and 14 RBI while J.D. Davis and Robinson Cano have combined for 53 hits and 26 RBI. The New York Mets didn’t list a starting pitcher at the time this article was published.

The New York Yankees need a win here to snap a five-game losing streak. The Yankees have scored seven runs in their last three games and four or more runs in six of their last 10 games. The Yankees have won seven of their last eight games when scoring four or more runs. DJ LeMahieu leads the Yankees with 30 hits and eight RBI while Luke Voit and Gio Urshela have combined for 44 hits and 39 RBI. The New York Yankees didn’t list a starting pitcher at the time this article was published.

Will update with trends once they’re released.

There’s not a ton to go off in this contest without knowing what happened in the first game of this doubleheader and without knowing who the starting pitchers are going to be. What we do know is that the New York Mets are an inconsistent team that struggles to score runs when they’re not leaving the park. We also know the New York Yankees are due for a victory after losing their last five games, and you’re not going to hold down their offense for long. The Yankees were held to two runs in their Wednesday doubleheader against the Atlanta Braves, so I’d assume that the bats start to heat up after an off day and their first home game in a week.

I’ll back the New York Yankees in this contest, and I’ll take the RL for added betting value.
