2020-08-30 14:10:00 EDT

The Pittsburgh Pirates and the Milwaukee Brewers meet in an NL Central division matchup in MLB action from Miller Park on Sunday.

The Pittsburgh Pirates will try to rebound from a 7-6 loss to the Brew Crew on Saturday. Jacob Stallings and Josh Bell each had two RBIs with Bell adding a home run while Stallings hit a double. Adam Frazier and Kevin Newman each had an RBI to finish off Pittsburgh’s scoring as a team in the loss while Erik Gonzalez went 2 for 3 with a triple. JT Riddle had a double and Cole Tucker added a base hit as well to finish off the offense for the Pirates in defeat. JT Brubaker allowed two runs on three hits while striking out six over five innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Richard Rodriguez took the loss, falling to 0-2 on the year in relief. Steven Brault will start here and is 0-1 with a 4.80 ERA and 9 strikeouts this season. In his career, Brault is 1-3 with a 3.82 ERA and 54 strikeouts against the Brewers.

The Milwaukee Brewers will try to build on their victory over the Pirates from Saturday. Avisail Garcia and Eric Sogard each had two RBIs with Sogard adding the walk-off two-run home run whle Garcia had a double. Christian Yelich added a solo home run as did Orlando Arcia while Luis Urias had an RBI as well to finish the Brewers’ offense in the win. Ben Gamel also had a double as six of Milwaukee’s seven hits in the game went for extra bases. Brett Anderson gave up four runs on nine hits while striking out three over five innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Devin Williams got the win in relief to improve to 2-1 on the year. Brandon Woodruff will start here and is 2-2 with a 3.19 ERA and 41 strikeouts this season. In his career, Woodruff is 3-1 with a 4.11 ERA and 41 strikeouts against Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh is 16-36 in their last 52 road games and 18-45 in their last 63 games as a road underdog while the over is 4-1-3 in their last 8 games within the division. Milwaukee is 11-4 in their last 15 games against a team with a left-handed starter and 1-4 in their last 5 game three matchups while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 games against a left-handed starter. The over is 2-0-2 in the last 4 meetings between these two teams.

This line is massive considering it’s Brandon Woodruff we’re talking about and the Pirates have also shown they can beat Milwaukee multiple times this year and Brault’s been effective for the most part as a starter. However, the Brewers won game one soundly and while game two was a nervy affair, Milwaukee has all of the momentum after stealing the win on Saturday after losing the lead in the top half of the 9th. I just think that the Brewers winning by a couple is more likely than the Pirates showing up for the finale, so give me the Brewers on the run line here but realistically this is a game that’s probably better to just watch.
