Samsung Lions vs. KIA Tigers – 9/1/20 KBO Baseball Pick, Odds, and Prediction

2020-09-01 05:30:00 EDT

The KIA Tigers and Samsung Lions meet Tuesday morning in South Korea KBO baseball action at the Gwangju Kia Champions Field.

The KIA Tigers need a victory after losing 15 of their last 29 games. The KIA Tigers pitching staff has allowed four or less runs in 30 of their last 58 games. In their last effort, Kim Ho-ryeong and Hong Jong-pyo combined for two hits and two RBI while Lee Min-woo allowed four runs and six hits in five innings of work. The KIA Tigers have won 34 of their last 63 games overall. Aaron Brooks gets the ball tonight for the KIA Tigers.

The Samsung Lions need a victory here after losing 21 of their last 30 games. The Samsung Lions have allowed five or more runs in 16 of their last 30 games. In their latest effort, Park Hae-min and Lee Won-seok combined for four hits and one RBI while Ben Lively allowed three runs and 10 hits in 4.2 innings of work. The Samsung Lions have lost 26 of their last 39 games overall. Choi Chae-heung gets the ball tonight for the Samsung Lions.

The KIA Tigers have won six of the last nine meetings against the Samsung Lions. Four of the last six meetings between the Lions and Tigers have produced double-digit run totals.

Aaron Brooks has a 2.85 ERA and 1.11 WHIP this season through 123 innings, and he’s allowed three or more runs in each of his last three starts. Choi Chae-heung has a 4.30 ERA and 1.40 WHIP this season through 81.2 innings, and he’s allowed two or less earned runs in five of his last six starts. The KIA Tigers have a clear pitching edge in this contest, are playing the better baseball overall and have won six of the last nine meetings against the Samsung Lions. Chae-heung has pitched well in each of his last two starts, but he’s earned just one victory since July 5, so it’s hard to trust him on the mound still.

I’ll side with the KIA Tigers and the RL for max value in this series opener.
