Kansas City Royals vs. Chicago White Sox – 9/5/20 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

2020-09-05 19:05:00 EDT

The Chicago White Sox and the Kansas City Royals meet in an AL Central division matchup in MLB action from Kauffman Stadium on Saturday.

The Chicago White Sox will try to build off of their 7-4 win over the Royals on Friday. Jose Abreu went 2 for 5 with a double and two RBIs while Tim Anderson, Edwin Encarnacion, Luis Robert and Nick Madrigal each had an RBI to cap off Chicago’s scoring as a team in the win. Noman Mazara went 2 for 5 while James McCann, Luis Robert and Yoan Moncada all had base hits as well to finish off Chicago’s offense as a team in victory. Dane Dunning allowed three runs on five hits while striking out four over 4.2 innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Codi Heuer picked up the win for the White Sox in relief while Alex Colome closed the deal for his 8th save of the season. Lucas Giolito will start here and is 3-2 with a 3.14 ERA and 66 strikeouts this season. In his career, Giolito is 6-2 with a 2.75 ERA and 71 strikeouts against Kansas City.

The Kansas City Royals will look to bounce back after their loss on Friday. Adalberto Mondesi and Edward Olivares each have two RBIs with Mondesi going 3 for 4 at the dish while Olivares went 2 for 5. Whit Merrifield, Maikel Franco, Alex Gordon and Nicky Lopez each had a base hit as well to cap off KC’s offense as a team in the losing effort. Brady Singer took the loss, falling to 1-4 after allowing five runs on ten hits while striking out five over 5.2 innings of work. Kris Bubic will start here and is 0-4 with a 5.46 ERA and 27 strikeouts this season. This will be Bubic’s second career start against the White Sox.

Chicago is 14-2 in their last 16 games against a left-handed starter and 12-4 in their last 16 road games while the over is 5-0 in their last 5 games against a road favorite. Kansas City is 1-5 in their last 6 home games and 20-42 in their last 62 games as a home underdog while the under is 10-4-1 in their last 15 games within the division. Chicago is 6-1 in the last 7 meetings between these two teams and 4-0 in the last 4 meetings between these two teams in Kansas City.

Both of these teams have played in their fair share of low-scoring games as of late, but Giolito’s been prone to giving up some runs here and there and the White Sox have also been solid offensively while the Royals are more than capable of putting runs on the board and Bubic’s been batted around in his own right this year. It’s a lean to the over as my free pick for this game but my stronger play is on the side and I have that available as a premium pick that you can find here.
