Minnesota Twins vs. Detroit Tigers – 9/6/20 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

2020-09-06 14:10:00 EDT

The Detroit Tigers and the Minnesota Twins meet in an AL Central division matchup from Target Field on Sunday.

The Detroit Tigers will try to rebound after a 4-3 loss to the Twins on Saturday. Victor Reyes had a solo home run while going 2 for 4 at the dish while Jeimer Candelario and Jorge Bonifacio each had an RBI to finish off the scoring for Detroit in the loss. Willi Castro went 2 for 4 while Miguel Cabrera added a base hit to cap off the Tiger offense in defeat as Detroit had seven hits as a team in the loss. Tarik Skubal allowed one run on two hits while striking out six over six innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Jose Cisnero took the loss to drop his record to 1-2 in relief this season. Casey Mize will start here and is 0-1 with a 6.75 ERA and 13 strikeouts this season. This will be Mize’s first career start against Minnesota.

The Minnesota Twins will look to keep the momentum going after their victory on Saturday. Miguel Sano went 3 for 4 with a solo home run and two RBIs while Byron Buxton had the walk-off RBI. Lamonte Wade Jr., Brent Rooker and Nelson Cruz each had base hits as well to cap off Minnesota’s offense as a team in the winning effort as the Twins had just five hits as a team in the win. Kenta Maeda allowed three earned runs on two hits while striking out eight over six innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Jorge Alcala got the win in relief to improve to 2-1 on the year. Rich Hill will start here and is 1-1 with a 3.94 ERA and 10 strikeouts this season. In his career, Hill is 3-0 with a 3.77 ERA and 38 strikeouts against Detroit.

Detroit is 15-42 in their last 57 games as a road underdog and 2-7 in their last 9 road games against a left-handed starter while the under is 5-0 in their last 5 games against the AL Central. Minnesota is 4-0 in their last 4 games within the division and 20-7 in their last 27 home games while the under is 5-0 in their last 5 Sunday games. Detroit is 16-35 in the last 31 meetings between these two teams.

I don’t know what it is, maybe it’s Hill pitching that’s driven this total so high, but this still seems astronomically high for a pair of teams that are struggling to score runs with any consistency lately. I think Mize is going to use his stuff to miss a lot of bats and Hill will keep the lowly Tigers under control, so give me the under as my free pick for this game, but my stronger play is on the side and I have that available as a premium pick that you can find here.
