Washington Nationals vs. Atlanta Braves – 9/12/20 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

2020-09-12 18:05:00 EDT

The Atlanta Braves and the Washington Nationals meet in an NL East division matchup in MLB action from Nationals Park on Saturday.

The Atlanta Braves will look to rebound after a heartbreaking 8-7 loss to the Nationals on Friday. Marcell Ozuna led the way, going 5 of 6 with a home run, a double and four RBIs while Freddie Freeman, Travis d’Arnaud and Dansby Swanson all had an RBI to finish off Atlanta’s scoring as a team in the losing effort. Nick Markakis and Ozzie Albies each had a double with Albies going 3 for 5 at the dish while Austin Riley and Ender Inciarte each chipped in a base hit as well to finish off Atlanta’s offense as a team in the defeat. Josh Tomlin allowed five runs on seven hits over four innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Grant Dayton took the loss in relief, falling to 2-1 on the year as a result. Ian Anderson will start here and is 2-0 with a 2.40 ERA and 18 strikeouts this season. This will be Anderson’s first career start against Washington.

The Washington Nationals will look to build off of their walk-off victory from Friday. Juan Soto led the way, going 2 for 3 with a double and three RBIs while Eric Thames and Yan Gomes each had a home run and two RBIs with Gomes adding a double while going 3 for 5 at the plate. Michael A. Taylor added an RBI of his own to finish off the scoring for the Nats in the win while Trea Turner went 2 for 5 with a double and Adam Eaton added a double as well to finish off Washington’s offense in victory. Erick Fedde allowed two runs on six hits while striking out five over five innings of work, not factoring in the decision. James Bourque got the win in relief to improve to 1-0 on the year. Patrick Corbin will start here and is 2-4 with a 4.34 ERA and 42 strikeouts this season. In his career, Corbin is 6-3 with a 2.44 ERA and 73 strikeouts against Atlanta.

Atlanta is 5-0 in their last 5 road games and 10-4 in their last 14 Saturday games while the over is 6-1-2 in their last 9 division games. Washington is 5-12 in their last 17 games overall and 6-16 in their last 22 home games while the over is 20-5-2 in their last 27 games against a team with a winning record. The over is 6-0-1 in the last 7 meetings between these two teams.

The total between these two went well over on Friday and despite Anderson having solid numbers in his first couple of starts and Corbin having solid career numbers against Atlanta, I think we’re headed for another over here as well. These two teams just like scoring on each other and Anderson left his last start after just three innings while these same Braves roughed Corbin up for five runs in his last start. I’ll side with the over as my free pick for this game but my stronger play is on the side and I have that available as a premium pick that you can find here.
