Miami Marlins vs. Washington Nationals – 9/19/20 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

2020-09-19 18:10:00 EDT

The Washington Nationals and the Miami Marlins meet in an NL East division matchup in MLB action from Marlins Park on Saturday.

The Washington Nationals will try to rebound after settling for a split of Friday’s double-header with the Marlins, after taking game one 5-0 before a 14-3 loss to Miami in game two. Game one saw Andrew Stevenson drive in a pair of runs while Luis Garcia had a 2 for 3 day with a double and an RBI. Carter Kieboom and Victor Robles each had an RBI as well to finish off the scoring in the win. Erick Fedde got the win to improve to 2-3 on the year after tossing six innings of one-hit, shutout baseball while striking out six. Game two on the other hand, saw Robles triple while Kurt Suzuki, Josh Harrison and Juan Soto each had an RBI to finish off Washington’s scoring in the beatdown loss. Wil Citeme took the loss in game two after allowing six runs on four hits with three strikeouts over just 2.1 innings of work. Patrick Corbin will start here and is 205 with a 4.10 ERA and 50 strikeouts this season. In his career, Corbin is 4-2 with a 3.36 ERA and 70 strikeouts against Miami.

The Miami Marlins will try to build off of Friday’s performance with a strong showing here. Game one saw Jesus Aguilar and Garrett Cooper log the lone pair of base hits for the Fish in the loss as Miami had just two base knocks with the rest of the squad batting 0 for 19 in the losing effort. Sixto Sanchez took the loss in the opener to fall to 3-2 on the year after allowing five runs on eight hits over four innings of work. Game two saw an offensive onslaught as the Fish scored four runs in three different innings on the way to the win. Brian Anderson led the way by going 3 for 4 with three home runs and seven RBIs. Lewis Brinson and Corey Dickerson each had two RBIs with Dickerson belting a home run and Aguilar, Chad Wallach and Miguel Rojas all had RBIs to finish off the scoring for the Marlins in the win. Daniel Castano threw 4.1 innings, allowing three runs on five hits but it was Yimi Garcia who got the win in relief to improve to 3-0. Pablo Lopez will start here and is 4-4 with a 4.02 ERA and 46 strikeouts this season. In his career, Lopez is 1-2 with a 7.24 ERA and 12 strikeouts against Washington.

Washington is 39-13 in the last 52 meetings between these two teams and the over is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings between these two teams as well.

Corbin’s had the better career numbers against the Marlins, but he’s been pretty bad for much of the season and Washington just looks like a team that’s losing hope on the chances of postseason baseball. On the other hand, Lopez has been slightly better, but he’s had no success against the Nationals in his career, especially when it comes to keeping runs off of the board. I’ll take the over here as I could easily see double-digits here.
