New York Mets vs. Atlanta Braves – 9/19/20 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

2020-09-19 19:07:00 EDT

The Atlanta Braves and the New York Mets meet in an NL East division matchup in MLB action from Citi Field on Saturday.

The Atlanta Braves will look to keep the ball rolling after a 15-2 win over the Mets on Friday. Marcell Ozuna and Ozzie Albies each had a home run and three RBIs with Albies belting a pair of homers while Nick Markakis, Travis D’Arnaud and Freddie Freeman all had two RBIs with d’Arnaud homering while MArkakis had a double and Freeman added a pair of two-baggers. Ronald Acuna Jr. and Austin Riley each had a solo blast and Ender Inciarte added a solo home run to finish off the scoring for the Braves in the winning effort. Max Fried got the win to improve to 7-0 after allowing one run on three hits with three strikeouts over give innings of work. Ian Anderson will start here and is 3-0 with a 1.64 ERA and 27 strikeouts this season. This will be Anderson’s first career start against the Mets.

The New York Mets will try to bounce back after their beating at the hands of Atlanta on Friday. Amed Rosario went 3 for 4 with an RBI and Jeff McNeil had a double and an RBI to finish off the scoring for New York in the loss. Michael Conforto also had a base hit as well as the Mets had just five hits as a team in the losing effort for New York. Steven Matz took the loss, falling to 0-5 on the year after allowing six runs on eight hits with five strikeouts over 2.2 innings of work. David Peterson will start here and is 4-2 with a 4.17 ERA and 26 strikeouts this season. This will be Peterson’s second career start against Atlanta.

Atlanta is 8-3 in their last 11 road games and 4-1 in their last 5 games within the division while the over is 11-4-3 in their last 18 games overall. New York is 22-52 in their last 74 games as a home underdog and 2-5 in their last 7 Saturday games while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 home games. Atlanta is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings between these two teams and the under is 5-2 in the last 7 meetings between these two teams in New York.

I’m tempted by the under as Peterson’s been decent for the Mets and Anderson’s been good for the Braves. However, the over’s been popular in Peterson’s starts, with the over hitting in six of his last seven starts and while Anderson’s got a mixed bag in a small sample size, that Braves batting order behind him is lethal and can score runs in bunches. I’ll side with the over as my free pick for this game, but my stronger play is on the side and I have that available as a premium pick that you can find here.
