New York Mets vs. Atlanta Braves – 9/20/20 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

2020-09-20 13:10:00 EDT

The Atlanta Braves and the New York Mets meet in an NL East division matchup in MLB action from Citi Field on Sunday,

The Atlanta Braves will look to rebound after a 7-2 loss to the Mets on Saturday. Adam Duvall and Travis d’Arnaud each had a solo home run to make up the scoring for the Braves in the losing effort with Duvall going 2 for 4 with a double. Dansby Swanson, Tyler Flowers and Austin Riley all had a double for the Braves to cap off Atlanta’s offense as the Braves had just six hits as a team in the losing effort. Ian Anderson took the loss, falling to 3-1 on the year after allowing three runs on four hits while striking out eight over 4.2 innings of work. Kyle Wright will start here and is 1-4 with a 7.20 ERA and 20 strikeouts this season. In his career, Wright is 0-1 with a 9.00 ERA and 10 strikeouts against the Mets.

The New York Mets will look to build on their victory over the Braves from Saturday. Robinson Cano went 3 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs while Dominic Smith added a solo home run. Brandon Nimmo had two RBIs while Robinson Chirinos went 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI to finish off the Mets’ scoring as a team in the win. Jeff McNeil added a double while Michael Conforto and Andres Gimenez each added a base hit as well in the victory. David Peterson gave up one run on three hits while striking out ten over six innings of work to pick up the win to improve to 5-2 this season. Rick Porcello will start here and is 1-5 with a 6.06 ERA and 41 strikeouts this season. In his career, Porcello is 3-2 with a 5.10 ERA and 27 strikeouts against Atlanta.

Atlanta is 9-3 in their last 12 road games and 2-14 in their last 16 games as a road underdog while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 games within the division. New York is 15-7 in their last 22 home games against a team with a winning record and 1-4 in their last 5 Sunday games while the over is 5-0 in their last 5 home games. Atlanta is 6-1 in the last 7 meetings between these two teams.

It’s hard for me to pick a side here between two brutal pitchers, as Wright has started to turn a corner, but turning a corner is allowing three runs in six innings while Porcello’s allowed between two and five runs in each of his last seven starts. I think the offenses rule the day in this one, so give me the over here.
