San Diego Padres vs Los Angeles Dodgers MLB NLDS Picks, Odds, Predictions 10/8/20

2020-10-08 21:08:00 EDT

The San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers meet Thursday night in game three of the National League NLDS MLB playoffs at Globe Life Field.

The San Diego Padres need a win to save their season and force a game four on Friday. The San Diego Padres offense came alive late in their game two loss, but it was too little too late in hopes of evening up the series. The Padres have been outscored 6-11 in this series and their recent outing was quite frustrating. The good news is the Padres offense has scored four or more runs in four of their five playoff games and they prove time and time again they’re never out of a game. Tommy Pham leads the Padres with eight hits and one RBI while Jake Cronenworth and Fernando Tatis Jr. have combined for 13 hits and seven RBI. Adrian Morejon gets the ball, and he was 2-2 with a 4.66 ERA and 25 strikeouts this season. Morejon is 0-0 with a 0.00 ERA and two strikeouts in his postseason career.

The Los Angeles Dodgers will advance to their fourth NLCS in the last five years with a victory here. The Los Angeles Dodgers almost blew it in their game two victory, but they remain perfect in these playoffs. The Dodgers got a little bit of everything to close the deal in game two, as the offense showed up, they got a solid outing from Clayton Kershaw and the defense saved some runs as well. The Dodgers are still the most balanced team in baseball and can win games in a variety of ways.  Mookie Betts leads the Dodgers with six hits and three RBI while Austin Barnes and Cody Bellinger have combined for eight hits and three RBI. The Los Angeles Dodgers didn’t announce a starting pitcher at the time this article was published.

The Dodgers are 4-0 in their last 4 playoff games, 40-14 in their last 54 Thursday games and 40-13 in their last 53 games as a favorite. The Padres are 7-1 in their last 8 during game 3 of a series, 3-9 in their last 12 playoff games and 1-8 in their last 9 Divisional Playoff games. The under is 4-1 in Dodgers last 5 overall. The over is 4-0 in Padres last 4 games following a loss. The Dodgers are 9-2 in the last 11 meetings in San Diego and 38-15 in the last 53 meetings.

Even with the Los Angeles Dodgers being sneaky about who their starting pitcher is, you have to like them to close out this series. The Padres loss last night had to take a lot of wind out of their sails, and the Dodgers show time and time again they can win games with their pitching, hitting or defense. At this point I’m not sure it matters who is on the hill for the Dodgers. I’ll back the Dodgers to complete the sweep and this time I’ll lay the juice to avoid any bullpen trouble of killing a RL bet.
