Los Angeles Dodgers vs Tampa Bay Rays MLB World Series Picks, Odds, Predictions 10/21/20

2020-10-21 20:08:00 EDT

The Tampa Bay Rays and Los Angeles Dodgers meet Wednesday in game two of the World Series at Globe Life Field.

The Tampa Bay Rays need a victory here to even up the series at 1-1. The Tampa Bay Rays have lost three of their last four games and the offense has struggled a bit in all of those games, scoring three or less runs in three of their last five games. The Rays are 3-5 in these playoffs when scoring three or less runs. Randy Arozarena leads the Rays with 21 hits and 10 RBI while Manuel Margot and Joey Wendle have combined for 21 hits and 13 RBI. Blake Snell gets the ball for the Rays, and he was 4-2 with a 3.24 ERA and 63 strikeouts this season. Snell is 2-3 with a 2.88 ERA and 26 strikeouts in his postseason career.

The Los Angeles Dodgers can take a comfortable 2-0 series lead with a victory here. The Los Angeles Dodgers have won four straight games and are allowing an average of 2.5 runs during that streak. The Dodgers are 9-0 this postseason when allowing less than five runs. Mookie Betts leads the Dodgers with 16 hits and six RBI while Corey Seager and Cody Bellinger have combined for 26 hits and 27 RBI. Tony Gonsolin gets the ball for the Dodgers, and he was 2-2 with a 2.31 ERA and 46 strikeouts this season. Gonsolin is 0-1 with a 9.95 ERA and eight strikeouts in his postseason career.

The Rays are 7-2 in their last 9 Wednesday games, 12-5 in their last 17 games as an underdog and 43-18 in their last 61 overall. The Dodgers are 4-0 in their last 4 playoff games as a favorite, 20-6 in their last 26 interleague games and 42-13 in their last 55 overall. The under is 8-2 in Rays last 10 overall. The over is 5-2 in Dodgers last 7 overall. The Rays are 2-6 in the last 8 meetings in Los Angeles. The over is 5-0 in the last 5 meetings.

Snell has been solid this postseason, allowing seven runs and 16 hits in 19.2 innings while striking out 19, but he did have 10 walks and struggled with control at times. The Los Angeles Dodgers didn’t announce a starting pitcher at the time this article was published, so it’s hard to make a confident pick without knowing who is on the hill. However, the Dodgers are on a roll right now with four straight wins and a bullpen that’s been able to shut things down. The Rays offense has cooled off lately and you question if some of these guys are ready for the big stage. The Dodgers are playing with a great deal of confidence and everybody through their lineup is producing. There’s still a lot of series left, but it feels like the Dodgers are on a mission to finally get the ring.

I’m backing the Dodgers in game two.
