The Houston Astros and the Los Angeles Angels meet in an AL West division matchup in MLB action from Angel Stadium on Tuesday night.
The Houston Astros will try to rebound after a 7-6 loss to the Angels in Monday’s series opener. Kyle Tucker had a solo home run, while Jose Altuve, Alex Bregman and Carlos Correa each went 2 for 5 with an RBI. Yordan Alvarez added an RBI as well in the losing effort for the Astros while Yuli Gurriel went 2 for 3 at the dish and Myles Straw added a base hit as well in defeat. Luis Garcia allowed two runs on four hits over 3.1 innings in the start, not factoring in the decision. Joe Smith ended up with the loss after allowing three runs without recording an out in relief. Zack Greinke will start here and is 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA and 4 strikeouts this season. In his career, Greinke is 6-5 with a 3.98 ERA and 72 strikeouts against the Angels.
The Los Angeles Angels will look to add to their win over the Astros from Monday’s opener. Mike Trout went 2 for 3 with a solo home run while Justin Upton and Jose Iglesias each had two hits with an RBI as well. Dexter Fowler, Anthony Rendon, David Fletcher and Jared Walsh each had an RBI to cap off the Angels’ scoring while Albert Pujols added a base hit as well in the victory. Jose Quintana gave up four runs on five hits with 5 strikeouts over 3.1 innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Tony Watson got the win in relief and Mike Mayers closed things out for the save. Griffin Canning will start here and was 2-3 with a 3.99 ERA and 56 strikeouts last season. In his career, Canning is 0-0 with a 6.35 ERA and 11 strikeouts against Houston.
Houston is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall and 4-1 in their last 5 road games while the over is 7-0 in their last 7 division games. Los Angeles is 4-1 in their last 5 division games and 4-1 in their last 5 home games while the over is 4-1-1 in their last 6 Tuesday games.
The Angels got the job done on Monday and Iit wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility for the Halos to steal another game here. On the other hand, the Astros have Greinke goig here so you’d have to imagine they’re looking to rebound here. Instead, I’m going to side with the under. I think Greinke shows up again and I think Canning puts a solid foot forward to help the Astros here. Give me the under.
