The Chicago White Sox and the Seattle Mariners meet Monday in MLB action from T-Mobile Park.

Chicago is coming off a weekend series versus the Angels. The White Sox lost two of the first three games, then on Sunday Chicago fell again by three runs. As for Seattle, they played three games versus the Giants over the weekend. the Mariners lost Friday but won the other two. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Chicago fell in a tough one to the Angels 4-3 on Opening Day, but bounced back with a 12-8 win on Friday. After another loss 5-3 Saturday, Chicago coughed up 10 hits in a 7-4 loss in the Sunday game. Starter Dylan Cease posted 4.2 innings with five hits and three earned.

For the Monday starting pitcher role, the Sox will go with Carlos Rodon. Last year in four games (two starts) for Chicago, Rodon was 0-2 with an 8.22 ERA and six Ks in 7.2 innings of work. Rodon was great in the spring, notching a 1.32 ERA over three starts and 13.2 innings.

Over on the Mariners’ side, they were able to eke out an 8-7 Opening Day victory over the Giants. Seattle lost on Friday 6-3, but then notched a 4-0 shutout in the Saturday rubber match. Starter Chris Flexen went 5.0 innings with four hits and six Ks there.

For the starter role on Monday, Seattle is sending out Justus Sheffield. Last year Sheffield notched a 4-3 record in 10 starts and 55.1 total innings, striking out 48 batters. He’s coming off a strong spring and threw 92 pitches in a live BP for his most recent tune-up.

The White Sox are 19-7 in their last 26 games versus a lefty starter and 1-4 in their last five in game one of a series. Chicago is 19-7 in their last 26 road games versus a left-handed starter and the under is 6-2 in their last eight in game one of a series.

Meanwhile, the Mariners are 4-1 in their last five Monday games and 3-7 in their last 10 after an off day. Seattle is 4-1 in their last five home games and 21-46 in their last 67 versus a lefty starter.

PICK: I’m going to take the Mariners here. This should be a very interesting matchup, however. Sheffield will have his hands full against a pretty potent White Sox offense, and he’ll have to be on point in order to make it through that lineup multiple times. Rodon should do well here also following his strong spring. I like this one to be a lower-scoring game with Seattle eking it out by a run or two.
