The Chicago Cubs and the Milwaukee Brewers meet Monday in MLB action from Miller Park.

Chicago is coming off a weekend set versus the Pirates. After splitting the first two games, in the Sunday rubber match the Cubs fell again, this time by six runs. As for the Brewers, they just finished up against the Cardinals. Milwaukee split their first two games as well, then on Sunday the Brewers notched a six-run win. Chicago managed a 4-2 victory over the Pirates on Thursday, but couldn’t keep it up in the Saturday game during an 8-2 loss. In the Sunday matchup, the Cubs had an early 1-0 lead but it didn’t last long in an eventual 7-1 loss. Starter Trevor Williams gave up 10 hits with five earned in 3.1 innings there.

For Monday’s starting pitcher role, the Cubs will send out Adbert Alzolay. This will be the second consecutive start versus the Brewers for Alzolay. On Tuesday he gave up four runs—with three coming in the first inning—four hits, two walks and four strikeouts in five innings.

Over on the Brewers’ side, they fell 3-1 to the Cardinals on Thursday but evened it up with a strong 9-5 victory in the Saturday game. On Sunday, Milwaukee notched seven runs in the first two innings on the way to a 9-3 win. Brett Anderson went 5.0 innings with one earned in the victory.

For the Monday starter slot, the Brewers are rolling with Freddy Peralta. So far this season Peralta has a pair of appearances, combining for 7.0 innings, no earned, three hits, seven walks and 14 strikeouts. He last pitched April 6 versus the Cubs, allowing just one hit.

The Cubs are 11-1 in their last 12 Monday games and 24-8 in their last 32 in game one of a series. The under is 8-3 in the Cubs’ last 11 in game one of a series and 24-9-1 in their last 34 overall.

Meanwhile, the Brewers are 1-5 in their last six in game one of a series and the under is 4-1 in their last five in game one of a series. The under is 18-7-1 in Milwaukee’s last 26 overall and 5-2-1 in their last eight Monday games.

PICK: I’m going to stick with the Brewers in this one. In his last game versus the Cubs on April 6, Peralta put up 5.0 innings with one hit, four walks and eight strikeouts. He’s got seven walks in seven innings so far, but the 14 Ks in that span are quite impressive. I like Peralta to post another good outing here and put the Brewers in position to grab the win.
