The Philadelphia Phillies and the New York Mets will square off in an NL East division matchup in MLB action from Citi Field on Monday.

The Philadelphia Phillies come into this one fresh off of a 7-6 win over the Atlanta Braves on Sunday night baseball. Didi Gregorius led the way with a home run and four RBIs while Bryce Harper and Rhys Hoskins each had a solo home run as well. Jean Segura added an RBI as well to round out the scoring for the Phils in the win while Alec Bohm went 2 for 4 with a double and J.T. Realmuto and Matt Joyce each had a two-bagger as well to cap off Philly’s offense in the win. Matt Moore allowed five runs on nine hits with five strikeouts over five innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Jose Alvarado got the win to improve to 2-0 on the year while Hector Neris closed things out for his 2nd save. Chase Anderson will Start here and is 0-1 with a 3.60 ERA and 3 strikeouts this season. In his career, Anderson is 2-4 with a 4.47 ERA and 44 strikeouts against the Mets.

The New York Mets come into this one having had their series finale against the Marlins on Sunday rained out in the first inning. Up to this point in the year, Brandon Nimmo leads the Mets with 7 hits and a .414 batting average and a .565 on base percentage while Dominic Smith and Pere Alonso each have a home run and three RBIs and Michael Conforto also has three RBIs as well. Nimmo also leads the Mets with three double already this season. David Peterson is expected to get the start here and is 0-1 with a 13.50 ERA and 5 strikeouts this season. In his career, Peterson is 0-1 with a 16.50 ERA and 8 strikeouts against the Phillies.

Philadelphia is 5-1 in their last 6 division games and 11-27 in their last 38 road games while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 games as an underdog. New York is 6-13 in their last 19 series opening matchups and 2-6 in their last 8 games overall while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games as a home favorite. Philadelphia is 9-4 in the last 13 meetings between these two teams.

In all honesty, I know Anderson didn’t have his best debut for the Phillies, but the Phils continue to have a large amount of success and the books just keep showing no respect. The Mets were touted as a team to watch but out of the gate I haven’t seen anything special and David Peterson didn’t have a good debut in his own right. I’ll take my chances with the Phillies in this one.
