The Cincinnati Reds and the San Francisco Giants meet Monday in MLB action from Oracle Park.

Cincinnati is coming off a weekend series versus the Diamondbacks. The Reds split the first pair, then in the rubber match on Sunday Cincinnati was shut out in a blowout loss. As for the Giants, they played the Rockies this weekend. San Francisco won the first pair in that series, then on Sunday got another one, this time a shutout. Cincinnati eked out a 6-5 win over the Diamondbacks in their opener on Friday, but then fell big 8-3 in the Saturday game. On Sunday, the Reds could only muster two hits in a 7-0 loss. Starter Jose De Leon went 4.1 innings with eight hits, six earned and nine Ks.

For the Monday starting pitcher job, the Reds will send out Wade Miley. So far this year Miley has made one start. He went 6.0 innings with two hits, no earned, one walk and six strikeouts on April 6 versus the Pirates.

Over on the Giants’ side, they managed a pair of tight wins over the Rockies in their first two weekend games, taking them 3-1 and 4-3. In the Sunday game, San Francisco posted two runs in the first inning and didn’t look back from there in a 4-0 win. Evan Longoria managed two hits with two RBI in that one.

For the Monday starter role, San Francisco will go with Aaron Sanchez. In his first start this season, Sanchez posted 5.0 innings with six hits, one earned and four strikeouts. That was his first start in the Major Leagues since getting shoulder surgery back in 2019.

The Reds are 4-0 in their last four Monday games and 7-2 in their last nine in game one of a series. The under is 7-3 in the Reds’ last 10 in game one of a series and 10-3 in their last 13 versus the NL West.

Meanwhile, the Giants are 7-16 in their last 23 in game one of a series and 2-8 in their last 10 Monday games. The over is 4-1-1 in the Giants’ last six Monday games and 12-5-2 in their last 19 in game one of a series.

PICK: I’m going to stick with the Reds in this one. Miley is coming off a great start in a 14-1 drubbing of the Pirates on Tuesday. At least some of that was likely due to an early lead and little pressure. If the Reds can tack up a few runs early like that again in the Monday game, Miley should be in good position to do his thing and help Cincinnati get a win.
