The Houston Astros and the Colorado Rockies meet Tuesday in MLB action from Coors Field.

This will be game one in a two-game set between these teams this week. The Astros are coming off a weekend series versus the Mariners. Houston fell in two of those games. As for the Rockies, they played the Mets over the weekend. Colorado won Saturday but lost the other two outings. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Houston had some trouble with the Mariners over the weekend. The Astros managed a 1-0 win on Saturday, but fell 6-5 Friday and 7-2 in the Sunday game. Starting pitcher Jake Odorizzi went 4.1 innings with three hits, four earned, three walks and seven Ks in that one.

For the Tuesday starting pitcher role, the Astros will send out Luis Garcia. This was supposed to be Lance McCullers’ start, but he became ill last week. Garcia carries a 2.35 ERA with eight strikeouts so far.

Over on the Rockies’ side, they won a game on Saturday as well (7-2), but fell in the other two games versus the Mets over the weekend. Colorado lost 4-3 on Saturday and 2-1 on Sunday. Starter Antonio Senzatela went 6.0 innings with five hits and one earned in that game.

For the Tuesday starter job, the Rockies will go with Jon Gray. Over his 15.2 innings of work so far this year, Gray has 11 hits, five earned, one homer allowed, seven walks and 15 strikeouts for a 2.87 ERA.

Houston is 67-63 against the money line in road games over the last three season and 25-29 against the money line in night games over the last two seasons. The Astros are 29-35 against the money line in road games after a loss over the last three seasons and 102-77 against the money line against right-handed starters over the last three seasons.

PICK: I’m going to take a stab on the Rockies here. Gray had some issues early on in his last start, including a rough 36-pitch first inning. The good news for Gray is that he bounced back well, logging just one run over his next 53 pitches. If Gray can find a good rhythm early here, I think Colorado will have the door open for a potential win. If the bats show up, that is.
