The San Francisco Giants and the Philadelphia Phillies meet in MLB action from Citizens Bank Park on Monday night.

The San Francisco Giants will look to build on a narrow 1-0 win over the Miami Marlins on Sunday. Alex Dickerson accounted for the Giants’ lone RBI while Brandon Belt and Mike Yastrzemski each had a double. Tommy La Stella and Brandon Crawford each had a base hit as well as the Giants mustered up just sux hits as a team in the winning effort. Alex Wood got the win to improve to 1-0 after tossing five shutout innings, giving up just three hits while striking out four. Tyler Rogers closed out the 9th for his 1st save. Kevin Gausman will start here and is 0-0 with a 3.20 ERA and 18 strikeouts this season. In his career, Gausman is 0-3 with a 6.56 ERA and 23 strikeouts against the Phillies.

The Philadelphia Phillies will look to build on a narrow 2-0 win over the Cardinals in Sunday’s series finale. Bryce Harper led the way, going 3 for 3 with a solo home run and a double while Alec Bohm had an RBI as well to make up the scoring output for the Phillies in the win. Jean Segura went 2 for 3 with a double of his own while J.T. Realmuto had a base hit as well to cap off the offense for the Phillies as Philadelphia had six hits as a team in the winning effort. Aaron Nola got the win to improve to 1-1 on the year after hurling a complete game, allowing just two hits while striking out ten on 109 pitches. Chase Anderson is going to start here and is 0-1 with a 4.00 ERA and 6 strikeouts this season. In his career, Anderson is 3-2 with a 4.76 ERA and 33 strikeouts against San Francisco.

San Francisco is 4-1 in their last 5 games as a favroite and 7-3 in their last 10 games overall while the under is 8-0 in their last 8 games following a win. Philadelphia is 4-1 in their last 5 home games against a team with a winning record and 1-4 in their last 5 games overall while the over is 7-0 in their last 7 games as an underdog. San Francisco si 7-3 in the last 10 meetings between these two teams.

I get why the Phillies are dogs here as they’ve definitely cooled off from their hot start to the season. However, I’ve said before and I’ll say again, I’m not a Kevin Gausman guy and I still don’t see him as a #1 starter for any rotaton in the majors. I mean he was lucky to not take the loss in his last start as he allowed five runs in six innings but it was the offense that picked him up. Chase Anderson isn’t reliable for much of anything either, but the Phillies are a better team than what they’ve shown lately and I think getting them at a cheap price here at home is the play on Monday.
