The Los Angeles Angels and the Houston Astros meet Saturday in MLB action from Minute Maid Park.
This will be the third installment of a four-game set between these teams this weekend. The Astros took the Thursday game, then on Friday in game two Houston did it again by one run in extras. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.
Los Angeles coughed up three runs in both the second and third innings of the Thursday game, and ultimately fell to the Astros 8-2. In the Friday matchup, the Angels had a 4-2 edge going into the bottom of the 10th but fell 5-4 after giving up three runs. Starter Andrew Heaney went 6.1 innings with two hits in that one.
For the Saturday game, the Angels will send out Griffin Canning. In his three outings so far this year, Canning has 12.2 innings with 11 hits, eight earned runs, four homers allowed, three walks, 14 strikeouts and a 5.68 ERA. He gave up two earned in 2.1 innings his last time up.
Over on the Astros’ side, their offense was working well in the Thursday game with 13 team hits. Carlos Correa posted two hits with three runs and two RBI. On Friday, the Astros pulled off a high-energy comeback in the bottom of the 10th. Yuli Gurriel finished with two hits, two RBI and a run.
For Saturday’s game, the Astros will send out Jake Odorizzi. In his 7.2 innings of work so far, Odorizzi has 10 hits, nine earned runs, three homers allowed, three walks, 11 strikeouts and a 10.57 ERA. Odorizzi gave up four earned in 4.1 innings in his last start.

PICK: I’m going to take the Angels in this one. Odorizzi has had a couple of sketchy starts so far, giving up three homers in his debut and four earned in 4.1 innings in his second game. The good news is that he was able to retire 10 in a row on Sunday. As for Canning, he last started back on April 14 and has a relief appearance since then. If Canning can find a good groove I think the Angels will be in solid shape for a win.
