The Detroit Tigers and the Kansas City Royals meet in an AL Central division matchup in MLB action on Saturday.

The Detroit Tigers will look to build on their 7-5 win over the Royals last time out. Miguel Cabrera went 3 for 5 with a pair of home runs including 5 RBIs while Nick Goodrum and Wilson Ramos each had an RBI to round out Detroit’s scoring as a team in the win. Jake Rogers and Jeimer Candelario each had a double with Rogers going 2 for 4 at the dish. Robbie Grossman went 3 for 5 while JaCoby Jones and Eric Haase each had base hits as well in the victory to cap off Detroit’s offense. Jose Urena got the win to improve to 2-4 on the year after allowing five runs on ten hits over six innings of work. Mike Fulmer closed out the 9th for his 4th save of the season. Matthew Boyd will start here and is 2-4 with a 2.45 ERA and 37 strikeouts this season. In his career, Boyd is 7-10 with a 5.43 ERA and 96 strikeouts against Kansas City.

The Kansas City Royals will look to bounce back from their loss to the Tigers last time out. Michael A. Taylor had a home run and two RBIs while Carlos Santana added two RBIs as well and Ryan O’Hearn added an RBI to round out the Royals’ scoring as a team in the loss. Salvador Perez and Nicky Lopez each added a double while Kelvin Gutierrez and Andrew Benintendi each had two hits. Whit Merrifield added a base hit as well to cap off KC’s offense as a team in the losing effort. Mike Minor gave up four runs on ten hits with eight strikeouts over six innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Tyler Zuber took the loss, falling to 0-1 on the year as a result. Brady Singer will start here and is 1-3 with a 3.96 ERA and 40 strikeouts this season. In his career, Singer is 3-0 with a 2.53 ERA and 28 strikeouts against Detroit.

Detroit is 69-155 in their last 224 games overall and 6-2 in their last 8 games against a team with a losing record while the under is 3-0-1 in their last 4 games as an underdog. Kansas City is 4-13 in their last 17 games overall and 2-7 in their last 9 home games while the under is 21-5 in their last 26 games against a left-handed starter. The under is 13-2-1 in the last 16 meetings between these two teams.

Boyd’s been pretty good against the Royals this season, posting an ERA under one, while Brady Singer has to be better than what he was against the White Sox last time out. I’m siding with the under here as I could see this one ending 3-2 or something in that ballpark so give me the under here.
