The Minnesota Twins and the Kansas City Royals meet in an AL Central matchup in MLB action from Kauffman Stadium on Thursday night.

The Minnesota Twins will try to bounce back from a 6-3 loss at the hands of the Baltimore Orioles in their last game. Ryan Jeffers led the charge, going 2 for 4 with a triple, a home run and two RBIs while Jorge Polanco added a double and an RBI to cap off the scoring for the Twins in the winning effort. Nelson Cruz, Trevor Larnach and Nick Gordon each had a base hit as well to finish off the offense for the Twins as Minnesota had just six hits as a team in the losing effort. Randy Dobnak took the loss, falling to 1-5 on the year after allowing three runs on eight hits while striking out three over 5.2 innings of work. J.A. Happ will start here and is 3-2 with a 5.24 ERA and 35 strikeouts this season. In his career, Happ is 6-3 with a 4.12 ERA and 52 strikeouts against the Royals.

The Kansas City Royals are out to build on their 10-5 win over the Pirates in their last game. Andrew Benintendi led the Royals by going 2 for 5 with a grand slam and a total of five RBIs while Salvador Perez went 2 for 4 with a pair of home runs and three RBIs. Michael A. Taylor had a triple and an RBI and Whit Merrifield went 3 for 5 with an RBI of his own to round out the scoring for the Royals in the winning effort. Kelvin Gutierrez added a triple of his own while Carlos Santana and Edward Olivares each had a base hit as well to finish off KC’s offense in the win. Brady Singer got the win to improve to 3-4 on the year after allowing four earned runs on eight hits while striking out six over 5.2 innings of work. Kris Bubic will get the start here and is 1-0 with a 1.52 ERA and 22 strikeouts this season. In his career, Bubic is 1-2 with a 5.52 ERA and 10 strikeouts against the Twins.

Minnesota is 6-13 in their last 19 road games and 4-9 in their last 13 division games while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 road games against a left-handed starter. Kansas City is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall and 6-1 in their last 7 games against a team with a losing record while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 home games. The over is 5-0-1 in the last 6 meetings between these two teams.

I’m having a hard time making a case for either side here as the Royals have been inconsistent and the Twins have done nothing but disappoint this season. With that said, I’m going to side with the under here. Kris Bubic’s been stellar in a relief role for the Royals and J.A. Happ has had flashes of looking like the staff ace that he was for teams like Toronto and in his better days as a Yankee and Mariner. Give me the under here.
