The Arizona Diamondbacks and the Miami Marlins meet in MLB action from LoanDepot Park on Tuesday night.
The Arizona Diamondbacks will look to build on their 8-4 win over the Colorado Rockies on Sunday. David Peralta leads the D-Backs with a .300 batting average, 22 RBIs and 30 hits while also boasting a team-high 4 triples while Eduardo Escobar has a team-high 7 home runs and Asdrubal Cabrera’s leading the D-Backs with a .379 OBP this season. Escobar, Pavin Smith and Cabrera lead the team with 6 doubles each as well this year. The Diamondbacks did not have a starting pitcher announced at the time that this article was posted.
The Miami Marlins will look to rebound from a 3-1 loss at the hands of the Washington Nationals in their last game. Corey Dickerson has a team-high .316 batting average, a .400 OBP and 25 hits with 5 doubles while Jesus Aguilar has 6 home runs and 23 RBIs. Miguel Rojas has a team-high 6 doubles while Dickerson has 5 doubles as well on the year. Sandy Alcantara is expected to get the start here and is 1-2 with a 3.19 ERA and 36 strikeouts this season. In his career, Alcantara is 0-1 with a 4.64 ERA and 7 strikeouts against Arizona.
Arizona is 6-1 in their last 7 road games and 10-3 in their last 13 games overall while the over is 8-1 in their last 9 games following a win. Miami is 4-9 in their last 13 home games and 1-4 in their last 5 games overall while the over is 4-1-1 in their last 5 games following a loss. The over is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings between these two teams.
I get that the Diamondbacks have been on fire lately and Miami’s yet to really break out of their shell and look like the team that came out of nowhere to make the playoffs last season. However, one of the best investments you can make is getting an ace-type pitcher at reasonable/cheap prices, and Sandy Alcantara fits that bill. Riley Smith is a nice piece of the D-Backs’ system, but I think Alcantara stifles the Arizona bats and get Miami a win here.
